Day 7 – 1/8/2022 – St. Lucia

Today was Whale Watching Day!!!!!

After, of course, a little coffee

We wandered down the pier to our bus where we were whisked away to the boat. We then left the port riding the swells in the best ‘bucking bronco’ manner.

Cheryl is being supported by Pamela, “the elusive goddess of the sea and protector of posteriors.” (her words, not mine. She said, “When you share that photo, and i know that you will, please use my complete name and title.”)
Of COURSE they served us Rum Punch. Everybody serves Rum Punch!

Sadly, there was no wildlife (except several schools of flying fish and a few Turns and Boobies trying to catch them in mid-flight – the fish, not the birds) –

– until, later, as we were about to turn for shore, we came across a flotilla of sight-seeing boats, and dolphins.

Eventually it was time to return to shore and, though we were disappointed at not seeing whales we counted the day a success.

Following lunch we read, napped, and managed photos until time for Trivia (4:15). I really need to work on my store of useless information. (What country is the worlds largest producer of pink diamonds?) Then it was the 5:00 Port Talk for Antigua followed by a lecture on “Islands in History” – which was actually pretty interesting.

After Dinner we headed back to the Theatre for a vocal performance by a guest artist – She was good, but not anywhere as good as the quartet.

Then it was back to the room for bed.

Ship note: Lots of people talk about the dearth of plug-ins in a cruise ship stateroom. So I counted:

  • The desk has 2:110 volt and 2:220 volt (though 1 of those is taken to recharge the QuietVox receivers
  • Each bedside table has 1:110 V, 1:220 V, 1 standard USB, 1 “High Power” USB (assume this is a 2.1 Amp for charging IPhones)
  • The bathroom has 1:110 volt – though it doesn’t support a “wide paddle” so it’s designed only for shavers (and nightlights)
  • There are 2 “secret” outlets. The coffee maker and the desk lamp are plugged into 220 V outlets, so in a pinch there are 2 more.

So generally, I’d say there is more than adequate power in the cabin. And note to self. Bring 220 Volt adapters.
