Day 2 – 9/21/2019 – North Rim

We rose, breakfasted, and were on our way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

We stopped for lunch in Kanab (our base of operations for the next couple of days. Then it was on to the canyon.

Along the way we stopped to take a couple of pictures of some farm artwork.

Arriving at the canyon we posed for pictures.

We also visited a gift shop or two, learned about the geology of the canyon, and learned something of the people who inhabited the area before the immigrants arrived.

Then we set off on a couple of hikes and took a few photos.

We had early dinner reservations at the lodge, so we cut our ramblings short and enjoyed a wonderful dinner (medallions of bison with a beet and apricot reduction, fresh beans, finger potatoes, an excellent porter, Dutch apple pie with cinnamon ice cream). I apologize for not including photos of the food.

The view wasn’t bad either.

After dinner we chose to forego the last of our planned hikes and head for the stables. Cheryl was driving, which is a good thing because she was better at spotting deer and the odd cow in the road after dark.

I’ll leave you with one more picture of the canyon at sunset.

    1. Cheryl doesn’t think I gave enough press to the cow. It was a very large very black angus with her head down. At first it looked like the reflection from her eye was a lane reflector. Then she moved her head. Too close for comfort!

    1. Nope. We blame the construction work going on around the lodge. The are working on the hot water pipes.
