Today we traveled from Rugby North Dakota to Ashland Wisconsin.
There’s not much to see except green: green fields, green forests… and water. Lots and lots of lakes.
We looked at the green and the lakes, marveled at how flat the land is, (You can see forests that are miles away.), speculated on how glaciers would shape the land when it was as flat as this, and listened to a book on tape.
Thus there aren’t a lot of pictures from today. But fear not. I’ve included one from yesterday for your enjoyment. This is a picture of the ski area at Bottineau
Ashland is on the shore of Lake Superior (actually Chequamegon Bay). Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world. If evaporation weren’t a factor it would take 191 years to drain it’s 3 quadrillion gallons of water.
We arrived in time to take a walk along the lakeside pathway. It was cloudy, gray and, misting but we enjoyed stretching our legs before dinner, blogging, and bed.
