Day 10 – 9/29/2019 – Homeward Bound

We packed up, loaded up, grabbed some breakfast and hit the road. We stopped in Flagstaff long enough to swap one of the vans for a “turtle top” (airport shuttle van) – so that there would be the proper number of the right kinds of vehicles in the right places for next weeks tours – and continued on to Sedona.

We arrived, grabbed our luggage, said good by to our new friends and found a nice local sandwich shop for lunch.

Thus fortified we hit the road. Our destination for the evening was St. George Utah and we pretty much just wanted to get there. Along the way we passed some magnificent scenery but rarely stopped to take pictures. Here are a couple of exceptions.

On the left is the original “Navajo Bridge” over the Colorado river on US 89A. It is now a pedestrian bridge. On the right is the new vehicle bridge carefully modeled after the origial.

Zion Canyon cuts into the white cliffs one layer down.

In terms of wildlife we saw a flock of wild turkeys and Kaibab squirrel. We were moving too fast to capture either on film, but here’s what the squirrel looks like:

We arrived at St. George, checked in, found some dinner and are now ready for a good night’s rest (meaning we set the alarm for a civilized hour). Tomorrow is the final push.

Wish us luck,
