The taxi arrived at 4:25 AM.
We were up (barely). Steve and Billie had arrived from Caldwell shortly before that. We piled in and off to the airport.
Fortified with Einstein’s bagels and coffee we flew to Salt Lake City where we enjoyed a 2 hour layover (along with second breakfast – Randy had an Auntie’s Pretzel breakfast sandwich while Cheryl scored big with a breakfast burrito from the “bakery” next door.
The next leg was SLC to Toronto – 3 hours of non-stop fun.
The layover in Toronto was somewhat shorter – even more-so since we had to clear the Agricultural check and passport control.
We also had to go thru the security checkpoint again. This provided the first Learning Moment of the trip. Whenever you pass thru passport control you will need to go thru security again. Drain your water bottle!
After those fun and games we meandered the 3km trek to the next terminal and caught the flight to Halifax.
We did have time to gaze out at the really flat landscape and big sky:
Once we arrived in Halifax we transferred to our hotel.
Billie had arranged for a shuttle bus to handle the half-hour trip. But when we went to check in they informed us that the bus was broke – but that they had arranged for a taxi to take us. So we got here at about 10:00 (7:00 Mountain) and, well, hit the bar.
Then it was off to check the local map, decide what to do tomorrow (The actual program checkin is at 4:00 so we’ve got much of the day to explore.) and hit the sack.
Nite all.
So excited for this adventure!!! Will be reading the posts daily!
