The alarm was set for 4:30.
We’ve learned that when being rudely awakened at that hour we can be up, dressed, and out the door within a half hour.
So it was that we were out the door and into the Uber at 5:00.
At the airport security was quick and easy (typical Boise – Say Hi to Bob and Marge at TSA and you’re thru) and we were soon tucked in at Einstein’s for a bit of breakfast before wandering down to the gate where we waited about 10 minutes before boarding.
After a short delay to de-ice the plane we were on the way as we BUMPED across the rockies on our way to Dallas.
We landed at DFW just after 11:00 and took the train over to D Terminal where we found the Hunts.
Lunch at the Artisan Market (or McDonalds if you were under age 13) and we spent the afternoon wandering, exploring, playing a bit of chess.
A bit later seating at the market began filling up so we packed up and moved to Terminal C, and our departure gate.
About 40 minutes before boarding time they announced our gate change – from C11 to C35. The good news is that we were still in the same terminal. The interesting news is that we were pretty well scattered around the terminal scoring sustenance. The bad news is that we had to schlep all of our stuff down to the new gate.
Which was in the new wing of the terminal – pretty posh, even though the biometric scanner wasn’t working so we had to show our passports and scan our boarding passes just like it was 2022.
Once in the air it was a leisurely trip south (Costa Rica is on Central Standard Time so there isn’t even a bunch of jet lag.)
Arrival was as quick and easy (Do you sense a theme for the day?) as it gets when arriving in a foreign country for the first time. Passport Control line was long and pretty quick. Hunts had one checked bag – that was on the carousel when we walked up. Customs involved running our bags thru an xray scanner that never stopped – the reader just watched them pass thru. Walking thru the phalanx of tour operators and off-brand taxi drivers Cheryl found a sign for airport shuttles and we walked down the corridor and out the door just as the shuttle for our hotel drove up.
it was a short drive to the hotel for a (say it with me) quick and easy check-in.
Then it was up to the rooms to do a bit of blogging, find and arrange charging cables, and head for bed. Body clock says it’s only 10:30 but it’s been a long day. So we’re calling it. Tomorrow’s a new adventure.
Till then,
R
I am so glad you are doing your blogging on this trip!
