We lingered over breakfast (and another cup of tea/coffee).  Actually we were waiting for the temperature outside to warm up a bit before venturing out.  But out we eventually did – venture.

The Petersen’s wanted to show us a bit of the public art that has been cropping up in downtown Greeley.  Here are a few examples.

The street that runs from downtown to the university is lined with 34 metal “trees.”  A few of our favorites:

And downtown Greeley is a great place to wander on a Sunny (if a little chilly) afternoon.

So of course we retired to a local watering hole to stock up on anti-freeze and lunch.  In spite of the fact that the restaurant is named “Mad Cow” the food was good (I had a Peanut Butter and Bacon sandwich) and the beer was excellent.

Refreshed and replete we returned to chez Petersen for a lazy afternoon enjoying good company and perhaps drifting off occasionally to slumber-land.

For dinner CJ treated our taste-buds to the wonders of cranberry pork.

The activity for the evening was an old standby – Russian Rummy. Yours truly demonstrated somewhat better skill (luck) than the previous evening.  Having been vindicated in his gaming skills, he joined the company in retiring for the evening.

Tomorrow we head for Moab and from there to stage 3 of this expedition – the Road Scholar trip. Till then,
