Day 7 – 4/27/22 – A new kind of dance

When last we visited, Cheryl was dealing with a sore throat (that we attributed to allergies).

This morning she was no better, and she had happened to pack a 2-pack of Covid tests, so we decided to take the test so we could rule out ‘anything more serious than’ bronchitis.

Turns out we couldn’t. I tested negative. She tested positive.

This set off a whole series of events including, conference with the hotel’s safety and health guy, several attempts to inform the county health department (never succeeded), quarantining Cheryl (restricting her to her room), moving me to a separate room, restricting our visits to delivery of food, (eventually) arranging for a confirming test administered on site by a local physician’s office, communicating with family and friends, rescheduling appointments, and dealing with United Airlines.

That accomplished we settled into a new routine – reading, sleeping, eating, talking on the phone.

She’ll be released on May 2. We fly out that evening (barring any further issues).

Such is the way of the world in travel these days.

Wish us luck,

R
